New Stuff

I went to one of my favorite antique stores a few days ago and started my collection of cottage items I want for my home. I spent a while looking around, deciding on the type of items I want to put in my kitchen. I had seen this bread box a few months ago and wanted to buy it but didn't think it would fit in with my decorating scheme. Maybe that's because I was stuck between two decorating worlds. I didn't expect it to still be in the shop and when I saw it, I knew it was meant to be. I wanted something unique to hold my pot holders and kitchen towels; I knew I had found what I was looking for when I picked up this biscuit tin. The teapot was only 3.95 how could I resist that? Can’t wait for my next jaunt through the magical land of antiques and vintage wares.

Oh, one thing about shopping in my favorite antique/vintage shops of late is, that once upon a time I looked at these beautiful items in the light of what I would paint on them; now, I look at them with the critical eye of how they will fit into my home. Don't worry, I still plan to paint on vintage wares, after all, painting is in my blood. I knew I had paint fever when I saw a large propane tank in someone’s yard and wondered what I could paint on it…..sick!

I will be finishing the give away item by Monday; be watching for the giveaway announcement.

  1. Hi Willa! Here from your other blog! I've so enjoyed reading about the kitchen! I am getting ready to re-do my kitchen, but I'm stuck in what exactly to do...I rent, and though I'm not planning on going anywhere soon, I'm always fighting inwardly with what I should do or not do - you know, just how far to take things, I guess. Anyway thanks for the "inspirations" here! Can't wait to see what you end up painting on that blank canvas of a door!! It's exciting!

  7. Hi Willa,
I love your finds! I actually have the tall bread one like the one in your picture, only mine is white with black lettering. I would not have passed up the tea pot for $3.98 either.
    Thank you for sharing.
    Prim Blessings,
    Jean

Funny that you mentioned the propane tank. My son has been sketching up an idea that he wants me to paint on his propane tank next summer.
Love the goodies that you have found!
